Instituto CEFER in Barcelona, established in 1977, is a leading private fertility clinic offering a wide range of reproductive treatments.
The clinic serves a diverse patient base, including single women, same-sex female couples, and individuals with HIV or HCV/HBV. Women up to age 55 can receive treatment of IVF with donor oocytes, providing options for those seeking parenthood later in life.
With two specialized labs (IVF and Andrology), one operating theatre, and three private recovery rooms, CEFER ensures a high standard of care. The clinic holds ISO 9001 certification and UNE 179007:2013 for quality management in assisted reproduction, further reinforcing its excellence in fertility services.
IVF and Egg Donation at CEFER Barcelona
CEFER Barcelona stands out for its innovative FEM Technology, addressing all fertility factors: Female, Embryonic, and Male. This comprehensive approach ensures patients receive thorough diagnostics and treatment, covering all aspects of fertility.
For female patients, CEFER offers a complete study of fertility, including hormone levels (AMH), ovarian function, uterine health, endometrial receptivity, immune response, and genetic carrier tests. This multidisciplinary evaluation allows for a detailed diagnosis and a customized treatment plan.
CEFER also has specialized units for complex fertility issues such as implantation failure, recurrent miscarriages, endometriosis, and ovarian rejuvenation. Their embryonic services include advanced fertilization techniques (IMSI, FertiCHIP), time-lapse embryo monitoring, and genetic testing (PGT-A).
For male patients, CEFER provides comprehensive andrology services, including sperm analysis, DNA fragmentation tests, and genetic screening. Their expertise ensures that male fertility factors are thoroughly evaluated and treated.
CEFER Practices Kind Fertility
Many fertility clinics today have become impersonal and focused on profitability, often losing sight of the patients’ needs. At CEFER, they take a different approach. They prioritize personalized care, getting closely involved in every patient’s journey as if it were their own. Their goal is to offer compassionate and accessible fertility solutions, ensuring that each patient feels supported and valued.
Google Reviews of Instituto CEFER
Many patients have shared their experiences with CEFER Clinic on Google Reviews. Here are a few carefully selected testimonials we’ve chosen to highlight for you.
Hello, after almost a year and a half looking for my baby, I decided to change clinics and visit Doctor Redondo, based on the recommendations she had. On the first visit, I not only liked how professional he was, but he conveyed closeness, attention and, above all, clarity.
She was clear and concise at all times, detecting something that until now they had not been able to tell me, because they had not done specific tests on me. A few visits were enough to start another treatment and have my baby with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Our experience with Dr. Mónica Redondo was perfect: from the beginning to the end she always explained the information she shared with us in great detail. We felt listened to, valued and with a very personalized follow-up. And the result, after two abortions, has been positive in getting our pregnancy to go ahead. So very happy :)

I came to Mónica after 4 failed IVF treatments in two different clinics. The emotional pain was evident, to which was added the pain due to the poor treatment received in my first clinic and the indifference of the second. Monica has helped us accept our situation, she has never invalidated our pain, she has always been close and has done everything possible to ensure that our babies stayed with us, without skimping on tests that I thought were necessary, always respecting our opinions. Today I am pregnant with twins, and although there is still time left, having gone through these last few months with her has given me the peace and rest I needed, because with her we can say that we have fought until the end.

Clinic has provided the Statement of Truth
We really care about the quality of the information presented on our website.
To make sure that all data provided by clinics is correct - we ask clinics to confirm all data by
"Statement of Truth". The document is signed off by clinic's representatives, scanned and
attached below.
Fresh donor oocytes were used for fertilization with donor or partner's sperm.
Frozen donor eggs Donor oocytes from egg bank were thawed before fertilization with donor or partner's sperm.
Note: As statistics shown in various sources (ESHRE, SART) on average the value of success rate when using frozen eggs may be 10% lower than with fresh eggs.
Embryo transfer day and number of embryos
Embryo transfer day Many clinics prefer to transfer embryos on day 5 at the blastocyst stage as it may lead to better outcomes of an IVF program.
Number of embryos to transfer International and national medical organizations including ASRM, SART and ESHRE discourage the transfer of a large number of embryos because of the increased likelihood of multiple-fetus pregnancies. Multiple-fetus pregnancies, in turn, increase the probability of premature births and related health problems.
Worth to know:
We encourage IVF Clinics to present success rates per cycle rather than per patient. We also ask clinics not to include any frozen embryo transfers in success rates calculation.
Please bear in mind that including frozen embryo transfers (FET) in statistics may increase the overall value of success rates - however at the same time it will increase the cost of the IVF treatment. IVF Clinics usually do not include frozen embryo transfer costs in their programs. That means that if you have any embryos left - the treatment will cost you more than advertised by the clinic.
IVF Success Rates
The way IVF success rates are calculated may vary from clinic to clinic. Calculating and presenting success rates by clinics is a common "communication" issue as clinics try to advertise the best values on their websites.
IVF success rates are usually calculated as a percentage of clinical pregnancies dividing the number of favorable results such as number clinical pregnancies by the number of procedures performed such as a number of embryo transfers, according to the following formula:
"number of pregnancies or number of live births / number of embryo transfers"
You should be aware that the success of IVF treatment is the sum of different factors and circumstances, only few of which depend on the clinic itself. The latter are surely the experience and professionalism of the medical staff as well as offered IVF treatments that allow particular types of patients (with either lower or higher chances of a successful pregnancy).
However, in majority of cases it is your individual situation, condition and medical history that influence the result of the treatment. Your age, genetic factors or various reasons for infertility play a crucial role in determining the IVF success.
Contact in person the clinics you’re interested in and discuss your own perspectives on IVF success instead of studying success rates advertised on clinic's websites.
If you'd like to now more about egg donation success rates please refer to this article:
Here you'll find basic information about the program and the sum of additional costs that are required to carry out the treatment.
The "Additional costs" mean that there are additional costs to cover on top of the advertised program price. You may find these costs in the "Included in program and additional costs" tab below.
Popup - Basic guarantees:
Guarantees refer to number of donor eggs (oocytes) included in the program, number of embryos which are guaranteed on day 3 or day 5 at the blastocyst stage.
Important:
When the clinic offers an embryo guarantee, the basic requirement is good quality partner’s sperm. Usually IVF clinics use WHO standards to assess the sperm parameters. If this is the case, make sure you ask the clinic which particular standards are being applied and what parameters are taken into account. Some fertility clinics apply their own standards. Make sure you ask what happens, if despite good sperm parameters, you will not receive the guaranteed number of embryos.
What does it mean?
Here you will find all the options that are included in the program and those that are necessary to carry out the IVF program but at an additional cost.
All procedures/services which are not included have additional costs that you will have to cover apart from the costs of the Program.
What does it mean?
Other procedures and services that are possible to perform at the Clinic at additional cost.
Remember the decision to use medical services should be made after consulting your doctor.
Refund based on outcome
IVF Refund Program is a term used for financial IVF programs. They give the patient access to two or three IVF cycles for one payment. Usually fresh embryo transfers and extra frozen embryo transfers are included in the price.
A multi-cycle IVF refund program means that the treatment continues until the desired result. It may refer to either clinical pregnancy or a live birth – or until all of the program’s cycles are completed. If the IVF program ends successfully, the clinic will not return your money. However, if you don’t achieve your goal, you can count on a partial or full refund of the costs.
